§ 38-36. Created; membership; powers and duties.

  • (a)

    There is hereby established a traffic committee to serve without compensation, consisting of the mayor, the city prosecutor, a representative of the traffic division designated by the chief of police, the fire chief and three citizens' representatives appointed by the mayor and board of aldermen. The chairman of the committee shall be appointed by the mayor and may be removed by him.

    (b)

    It shall be the duty of the traffic committee, and, to this end, it shall have the authority, within the limits of the funds at its disposal, to coordinate traffic activities, to supervise the preparation and publication of traffic reports, to receive complaints having to do with traffic matters, and to recommend to the mayor and board of aldermen and to the traffic safety coordinator, the chief of the traffic division, and other city officials ways and means for improving traffic conditions and the administration and enforcement of traffic regulations.
