§ 34-121. Definitions.

  • As used in this article, except as otherwise specified, the following terms shall have the meanings stated below:

    Animal means any wild game, fowl, fish, exotic animal, poultry and/or domestic animal (e.g. cattle, sheep, goats, swine, horses, mules, rabbits, ostrich, rhea and emu).

    Animal food manufacturer means any person engaged in the business of manufacturing or processing animal food or food for human consumption which is derived wholly or in part from carcasses or parts of products of the carcasses of animals.

    Animal remains means animal carcasses or the parts or products thereof.

    Person shall mean individuals, partnerships, corporations, associations and any other legal entity recognized by law.

    Renderer means any person engaged in the business of rendering carcasses, or parts or products of the carcasses of animals.

    Slaughter means to slaughter, butcher, can, salt, render, bone, cut up or otherwise manufacture or process.

    Slaughterhouse means any commercial establishment in which slaughtering or rendering of animal meat is carried on.
